Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner before the last turn on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
